Meet Charles John Maxary:

Charles has been at the orphanage since the age of 7. As one of the first children enrolled over 11 years ago, Charles has demonstrated all qualities of leadership and work ethic we strive to ensure the children learn. His English speaking skills improve each time we visit, and from an early age, we have witnessed compassion, intelligence and strength from this remarkable young person.

Charles was brought to the orphanage by his mother, after his father passed away. She was left with 8 children to feed and shelter upon her husband’s death. Charles is the 6th child and when his mother could no longer provide sufficient care for her children, she made the difficult decision to leave the 3 youngest and most vulnerable where she knew they would receive shelter, nourishment and education.

Since arriving at the orphanage, Charles has showed a high level of intellect and consistently thrives in his studies. He is a wonderful role model to the younger children and is highly respected by his peers. He enjoys drawing in his pastime and he eventually would like to become an electrical engineer.

March Trip Update

Goals of the trip were to: determine costs associated with repairing the electrical system at the boy’s facility, cost of sending students to College in the next few years, working on an apron sewing project with the older children to sell in the November Unique Boutique and playing with the children.
